Label TextPeterson studied illustration in Sweden before moving to the United States in 1948. A self-taught photographer, he became a regular contributor to several period fashion magazines like Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Mademoiselle, Cosmopolitan, L'Officiel, Look, Henri Bendel, Esquire, and GQ. Like his contemporary Richard Avedon, Peterson favored a high contrast, black-and-white style. The photograph shown here was published for a fashion spread in Mademoiselle.ProvenancePurchased from Deborah Bell, New York, NY
