Braving midnight darkness and a lashing rain-storm, the Soga brothers sneak towards the tent of their father's murderer Kudo Suketsune. Their unity of mind is clearly visible: their expressions are serious and they walk in step, barefoot through the mud. Although the brothers hold similar flaming pine torches and wear similar red sword scabbards and blue and white clothes, it is possible to tell them apart. The older Juro takes the lead and wears a hitatare with a pattern of plovers. The inProvenanceKatie and Scott McDonald, Rochester, NYOn View
