DescriptionHosobanLabel TextBando Hikosaburo II as Soga no Goro Tokimune and Sawamura Sojuro II as Kudozaemon in Edo murasaki kongen Soga at the Ichimura Theater, Edo, 1st month of 1761 (Horeki 11). Kudozaemon [Kudo no Suketsune] stands beside a tsuri-daiko (large hanging drum) and is holding up a koto, one end of which rests upon the floor. Goro, whose back is turned toward Kudo holds a flute (yokobue) in his upraised left hand. His right hand is thrust backward, perhaps in protest.
