DescriptionLight green jade, five Chi dragons on clouds, improvised base
Label TextBrush washers with dragons clinging to their sides were made as early as the 13th century. During the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) such dragons appeared to emerge from waves which were present on both the interior and exterior of the brush washers. By the Qing dynasty (1644–1911), the waves had mostly been eliminated or, as in this case, replaced by clouds.
