Label TextBoston was a veteran photojournalist in 1966 when he joined the staff of the Washington Star. He photographed every American president from Harry Truman to Bill Clinton. On October 22, 1967, he followed antiwar demonstrators marching to the Pentagon. From atop a stone wall he observed their meeting with a squad of National Guardsmen. He was exhilarated by a young man placing a flower down each rifle barrel. At the newspaper his image was little appreciated. So Boston exhibited the photograph that became a Pulitzer Prize finalist.ProvenanceDavid Davis; to Worcester Art Museum, 2011.On View
