DescriptionConvex face channeled around brow arching over eyes & converging along nose to flared at tip. Rounded protrusions over eyes. Engraved on brow, nose & tip with palmette tipped cartouches containing centrally organized arabesques. Some portions of original cheek piece remain, but now attached to non-matching cheeks. Latter with central ridges & each fixed with 3 rings; at top & 2 on outer edge. All edges punched with small holes.ProvenanceEdward Hubbard Litchfield collection purchased by Museum from Parke-Bernet Galleries, NY on December 6, 1951, sale no. 1293.
