DescriptionDecorated with embossed cusped bands en suite with breastplate, at center and either face. Secured with a turning pin centered at upper edge, and at one time, probably with a strap and buckle at the rear side edges. Holes at side of breastplate and reinforce, presumably for attachment but manner is unclear. Unexplained round notch in right armhole of reinforce.ProvenanceComte de Belleval, sold anonymously Paris April 15-16 1872, lot 46; Frederic Spitzer (Paris); Sold in Paris 1893. Purchased by John W.
