DescriptionIron. Very crudely formed. Elongated leaf-shaped thrusting blade of elliptical section with pair of outwardly curved blades at base, 1 of which has bifurcated end. Integral conical socket with tang. Circular section wooden staff with iron ferrule at base of head; staff pierced for lost basal spike, or for display mount. Staff and ferrule restored.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on September 28, 1929 from estate of Bashford Dean (Riverdale, NY). Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954 Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
