DescriptionIron. Very crude, spear-shaped, double edge blade with low, full-length medial ridge on both faces. Head originally with browned finish, preserved on 1 face. Simple open conical socket with section of langet on 1 face, secured to wooden circular section staff with 2 crude nails through langet & another nail through base of socket. 2-section staff joined by scarf joint at about mid-length.
ProvenanceGift to Museum on October 3, 1934 from Lawrence Waters Jerkins, Assistant Director, and Curator of Ethnology and Marine Room at the Peabody Museum (Salem, MA). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
