DescriptionOf 16 iron segments, lacquered within. Turtle shell shape.
Label TextSamurai fighting on horseback typically wore the highly protective kabuto, but for combat on foot, the lighter jingasa was often the protection of choice. This jingasa was originally lacquered, and may have had an identifying symbol on the front.ProvenancePurchased by the Museum from Kano Oshima (NYC) on October 15, 1932, lot#161.
