Description2-piece construction. The right side has a patched section with newer etching. The lining is old, perhaps original--it is elaborately executed, and has a later velvet patch. Some condition issues, and possibly some reetching. But the decoration is distinctive.Label TextThe decoration of the high comb includes allegorical figures of Temperance (depicted as a woman with two water pitchers) and Prudence (a woman with a mirror and snake), both appropriate qualities for a powerful nobleman.ProvenanceCollection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
