DescriptionRetains lining on brim, cheeks, and browband, though skull interior is unlined. Patched repair at front, nidheight. Large patch on right side.

Classical figures in cartouches on helmet-bowl. This is a good-looking object with possibly original soft components.
Label TextDifferent helmet types were used for different purposes. This helmet leaves the face open, which was typical for footsoldiers. It retains its original cheekpieces and fabric lining. Helmets were always padded, but these soft components rarely survive. ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on September 28, 1929 from estate of Bashford Dean (Riverdale, NY). Given to the Museum on December 15, 1931. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, Janaury 2014.
