DescriptionModern copy by Julio Pascual of the Medusa Shield of Charles V, made in 1541 by Filippo Negroli (recorded 1525-31) and Francesco Negroli (active 1541-53).

The central disc with the Medusa's head is made of a separate plate, riveted around its perimeter to the underlying shield.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins in May 1931 from Julio Pascual (maker) (Toledo, Spain). Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
