DescriptionSteel. Shell-like as extends onto restored shoulder-blade. Obliquely cut out in slight arc above anterior armpit (this portion is a restoration). Except for cusp at each extremity, upper edge is straight & unfinished. Lower edge dips sharply to medial cusp over upper arm, then arches rearward & down, cusped along its posterior edge. Rear plate with divergent spray of 6 rippled flutes, each increasing arc from top to bottom, from slight medial ridge vertically from upper edge to basal mid-cusp over arm. Punched holes for articulating-leather rivets.
ProvenanceRhodes Beshiklash his brother in Paris Louis R. Bachereau Bashford Dean Purchased by John W. Higgins on September 28, 1928 from estate of Bashford Dean (Riverdale, NY), odd lot #3 (Price paid for lot, including #927, 929, 1671). Given to the Museum on January 8, 1947. Collection transfer frmo Higgins Armory, January 2014.
