DescriptionBronze tool, possibly surgical instrument. Cylindrical shaft tapered to blunt point at 1 end. Opposite end flattened & expanded to form chisel-like head. Shaft with 3 groups of 5 diagonal incisions, each separated by molded rings. Green patina. JLF 2009: This looks a lot like a writing stylus--as is typical, one end has a moderate point, the other is rounded to rub out the writing.ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins from Sumner Healey (NY) on March 27, 1928. Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954. Purchased from Higgins Armory, June 2014
