DescriptionFor right hand. Modern steel, made to match left. Comprised of long, elbow-length riveted 2-piece tube, rounded to outside of arm, with riveted mitten defense of 11 lames for hand & fingers. Opening for arm is coarsely roped, followed by wide shallow band filled with domed iron rivets. Low medial ridge extends full-length to fingertips. Metacarpal & phalangeal lames are riveted together at bluntly pointed ends, & linked by boxed, roped knuckle-plate. Phalangeal lames are boxed, & the terminal lame pointed, with roped edge. Hinged thumb defense of 1 plate & 4 scales. Pair of riveted leather straps at wrist & palm.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on November 23, 1928 from the American Art Association (NYC), Dean Armor sale, lot #145. Price of $350 includes gauntlets and HAM#607. Given to the Museum on December 15, 1931. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
