DescriptionSteel, fingered & for right hand. Long 2-piece wide tubular cuff riveted at sides, broadening toward rounded elbow. Edges turned & roped & followed by pairs of holes. Pair of chiseled lines just to inside of holes. These continue full length along medial line of face. Deep terminal lame slightly curved & recessed for finger, decorated with pair of parallel lines. Additional plate across knuckles with boxed roped rib. Finger scales riveted to leather straps & decorated to match. Only 2 scales for thumb remain attached to broken leather. Leather glove sewn to edge of leathers, with fragments of once-red velvet at elbow opening; these probably date to Dean's ownership.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on September 28, 1929 from estate of Bashford Dean (Riverdale, NY). Given to the Museum on January 8, 1947. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
