Riveted repair on L corner plate. 2 buckles at L side, 2 straps on R (1 of which is missing). Buckles, straps, and edging trim secured with copper-alloy domed nails. Bottom edge of mainplate has 5 wider-spaced holes, 3 on each side plate.
Label TextWhere European knights would wear mail underneath their plate armor, Asian armorers incorporated mail and plate elements into single garments. Body armor of this type was worn from the late Middle Ages until the nineteenth century. The complete suit would have covered most of the body with a similar combination of mail and plate.ProvenanceCollection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
