DescriptionOf boot form, the rearplates shaped for the leg, embossed and pierced for spurs. Of two halves, double-hinged on the inner face, secured on the outer by holes snapping over threaded studs. Both plates are laminated at the ankles (four on the rear, three on the front), embossed for the ankle-bones. A full-length medial ridge extends down the front half to the lower edge of the greave proper which is slightly cusped. To the lower edge is riveted an articulating sabaton of four downward- and upward-lapping lames over a central plate, and terminated in a narrowed and squared toe cap with brazed basal plate. The straight-cut edges of the lames are secured with brass rivets and washers cut from thick brass strip. The rearplate edges are inwardly rolled over a wire, and plain.Provenance(Armor only) No provenance prior to Andrade. Purchased by John W Higgins from Cyril Andrade, Ltd (London) on 5 October 1929.
