DescriptionOf heavy steel. Consists of mainplate of moderate peascod form; 3 fauld lames; gussets set in cutouts at arms. Hasps at shoulders and flanks. Pair of holes at each shoulder for bolting on the reinforce.

Fauld probably associated--it has holes for leathers not matched by the breastplate.
ProvenanceArmor was purchased by Duveen Bros. for Clarence H. Mackay, November 24, 1928, #A-51, at the American Art Association (NYC) sale of Dr. Bashford Dean's estate, listed as lot 299, plate XL. Purchased by Museum on June 1, 1942 from Gimbel Bros. (NYC). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
