DescriptionGreaves of front and backplates; sabaton of center plate and 5 lames underlapping toward the ankle, 5 underlapping to the toe. R greave and sabaton old, though altered and perhaps composited; L made to match.
ProvenanceArmor was purchased by Duveen Bros. for Clarence H. Mackay, November 24, 1928, #A-51, at the American Art Association (NYC) sale of Dr. Bashford Dean's estate, listed as lot 299, plate XL. Purchased by Museum on June 1, 1942 from Gimbel Bros. (NYC). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
