DescriptionStout quadrangular thrusting spike with outwardly curved blade at base. Long body with convex cutting edge opposed by slightly convex back edge at mid-height of which is necked triangular fluke, welded on. Pair of stout triangular lugs at base of head with oval section socket having pair of integral langets at sides & separate pair at front & rear. Oval section wooden staff with conical butt cap. Staff once fabric-covered.
ProvenancePurchased by John W. Higgins on April 27, 1930 from Fenton & Sons, Ltd., London, England, their no. 4592F/O/. Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
