Hugh Bridport

British, 1794–after 1868
BiographyStudied at the Royal Academy schools, London, from 1815, under C. Wilkin. He emigrated to the United States in 1816. In 1817 he opened a drawing academy in Philadelphia with his brother. Known for portraits in oils and watercolors, in addition to executing engravings. Examples of his work are held by the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts.
