Label TextHomer and Sargent both created watercolors depicting docked boats in Florida: Homer first in the Keys and Sargent later along the Miami River. Roughly sketching out the bridge, sky, and boat riggings, Sargent’s later work focuses on rippling reflections using layered browns and greens. As in the case of the Muddy Alligators, he skillfully uses the white of the paper. Here, it represents the reflection of the largest boat on the left.ProvenanceThe artist;
