Label TextHomer's broad brushstrokes and use of a rich range of blues convey the power of the sea near his studio and house at Prout's Neck, Maine, a landscape that occupied his attention until his death in 1910. Two sailboats on the horizon are made to appear miniature by the expanse of water that separates them from the shore. Touches of red in the sky and reflected in the water add a lyrical quality to this otherwise forceful view of the sea.ProvenanceEstate of the artist; (E.L. Knoedler, New York);
