DescriptionFigure of a saint in the attitude of blessingLabel TextThe design of the Infant of Prague is based on a famous wooden statue of the Christ Child in the Church of Our Lady of Victory in the Czech Republic city of Prague. According to tradition, a Spanish duchess brought the statue with her to Eastern Europe in the 16th Century when she married into a noble family. The statue was later associated with various miraculous events, after its donation to the church. The depiction was enormously popular in New Mexico.
