Label TextThe son of Harmen Jansz. Muller, Jan was trained in the family printshop in Amsterdam. He was probably Goltzius’s assistant, and learned the swelling line technique. Muller was related by marriage to Giambologna’s Dutch pupil Adriaen de Vries. The engraver also made contact with Bartolomäus Spranger and other artists at the Prague imperial court, which became a flourishing outpost for Netherlandish Mannerism. Muller returned to Amsterdam in 1602 to carry on the family business. On View
