DescriptionIridescent, pear-shaped body; neck is 1/3 of body; flattened base; rim folded and flattened in; tooled while still hot to create distinct shoulder; slight neck constriction, dark green glass (free blown). Unguentaria probably the earliest blown glass vessels; altering the basic shape of a bubble on the end of a blow pipe. This form has a long life (Matheson, ANCIENT GLASS #151). 1st-2nd century AD. From the Troad.
