Label TextFrom the beginning of his career LeWitt embraced the cube as the essential modular unit. This recognizable form cannot be mistaken for anything but itself. Simple, universal shapes, LeWitt realized, directed attention away from the artist's intentions. In this drawing he represented a small cubic form as if it had been carved out of a larger one. Thus LeWitt provokes us to consider his planning for the drawing, and its execution.ProvenanceJohn Weber Gallery, New York, NY
