Description.
Label TextHomer and Sargent both created watercolors depicting docked boats in Florida: Homer first in the Keys and Sargent later along the Miami River. Homer’s loosely rendered boats receding into the distance help differentiate the overcast sky from the water. In the lower left, he likely achieved the watery tidelines bleeding into the boats with a technique called blooming. A watery wash of watercolor is brushed onto moist sheet of paper.ProvenanceEstate of the artist; (E.L. Knoedler, New York);
