DescriptionThe Virgin lies upon a draped bed. Behind her stands Christ holding in his arms her soul represented as a small child. Above his head is a cloud and on either side are angels with outstretched arms. Mourning apostles are grouped at either end. One apostle at left swings a censer.
ProvenanceStrieder Collection, Munich; purchased at the Streider Collection sale, Frankfurt, before 1942; sold to the present collection through the Nierendorf Gallery, 1942.
