Label TextThe Truthful old man is taken from the first of five poems in the Khamsa (quintet). It relates that a tyrannical king, hearing that an old man has called him a tyrant, prepares to execute him. The old man not only admits to making the accusation, but also warns the king against his won tyranny. The monarch, recognizing the truth, honors the old man instead of killing him, and thereafter ruled justly.
