Label TextJacqueline Kennedy came to admire Mark Shaw’s style, and his preference for images that expressed his subjects’ humanity. These elements are apparent in his shots of her playing at the beach with her young daughter. Mrs. Kennedy, who had been a photographer and worked in publishing, thoughtfully controlled published images of her family. She often selected small groups to comprise a narrative. Shaw became cordial friends with the first family, and regularly visited the White House while they were there.ProvenanceDavid DavisOn View
