Label TextKept at a distance on the tarmac, the press respectfully recorded the solemn events on the night of November 22, 1963, when the body of the assassinated President arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. Some of the most moving images of that night are those of Mrs. Kennedy, apparently still in shock and medicated, met by Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, as they watched the casket placed in an ambulance and rode with it to Washington. She still wore the pink suit and stockings stained with the blood of her slain husband.
