DescriptionBrass skull of two halves, front and back, the join covered by the lateral brass strips. Mountings for aventail around the sides and back, though there are more mountings than for the preserved aventail. The aventail is of greenish silk lined with linen (?) and interlined with canvas; it is studded with iron-domed rivets.
ProvenancePurchased by Museum from American Art Association, Anderson Galleries (NYC) on December 10-12, 1936 (lot 218). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
