DescriptionOpen burgonet with 2-piece fluted skull reinforced with 2-piece heavy iron reinforce riveted inside sliding gilded nasal, retained with a key-screw; traces of original green fabric and leather lining within the cheekpieces. Hinged cheekpieces secured at the overlapping edges with pierced lug and pivot-hook. Gilded vase-like finial at apex and plume holder.There has been some repair work around the neck resulting in minor deformation and damage.

Higgins on January 12, 1929 at Anderson Galleries (NY), Spitzer sale, lot 673. Given to the Museum on March 1, 1929. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
