MarkingsTraces of Nuremberg (?) view mark is stamped on the fall, near the point. A punched dot at either end of the skull at the fall, and at both ends of the comb. Cross-like chiseled mark on the inner side of the cheekpiece flanges. Red-painted number "i9." on inside of nape flange.

DescriptionBlack-painted light steel. 1-piece skull with tall, plain comb, & short pointed integral peak. Riveted nape lame. Hinged cheekpieces, cut down along leading edges. Fragments of a fabric lining band survive.
ProvenanceArchduke Eugen's Armory, Fortress Hohenwerfen, Salzburg, Austria purchased by John W. Higgins on March 3, 1927 from Anderson Galleries (NY), their # 615. Given to the Museum on January 8, 1947. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
