DescriptionSteel. Broad leaf-shaped thrusting spear head, having full length low rib on both faces. Small tightly crescentic axe blade and long downturned fluke with ring above. Conical integral socket of 10-sided section with pair of long langets nailed to circular section wooden staff. Metal has a pronounced grain. Staff may be original.ProvenanceArchduke Eugen's Armory, Fortress Hohenwerfen, Salzburg, Austria Purchased by John W. Higgins on March 5, 1927 from Anderson Galleries (NY), their # 1128. Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
