DescriptionBroad, flat double-edged blade with low full-length rib on both faces. Pair of acutely pointed lugs turned towards tip. Conical socket of octagonal section widening to its base, extending down front & rear in pair of narrow langets, now broken.

Head & socket decorated overall with finely etched tendrils, guilloche strapwork & coat of arms surmounded by crown & framed by strapwork. Associated wooden staff of octagonal section, upper third studded with brass capped tacks & bearing unrelated langets.
ProvenancePurchased by the Museum at the Morosini sale#3986 (October 10-15, 1932) , American Art Association (NYC), lot #472. Paid $40 for lot#472 (including HAM# 1780). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
