DescriptionSteel. Very long acutely tapered double-edged blade with strong full-length medial rib on both faces terminating in reinforced point. Short pair of lugs at base of blade, curved slightly towards edges. Integral 10-sided socket with pair of short langets, obscured by modern tassel. Lower sixth of blade & socket etched with foliation, putti and grotesque figures on plain ground, the whole gilded at later date. Oak (?) staff of flattened octagonal section, probably later replacement.
