DescriptionSteel. Very long acutely tapered double-edged blade with strong full-length medial rib on both faces terminating in reinforced point. Short pair of lugs at base of blade, curved slightly towards edges. Integral 10-sided socket with pair of short langets, obscured by modern tassel.

Lower sixth of blade & socket etched with foliation, putti and grotesque figures on plain ground, the whole gilded at later date. Oak (?) staff of flattened octagonal section, probably later replacement.
ProvenancePurchased by the Museum at the Morosini sale #3986 (October 10-15, 1932) , American Art Association (NYC), lot #472. Paid $40 for lot#472 (including HAM #1781). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
