DescriptionIron. Double edge blade with low medial ridge on both faces. Edges recurve from rounded shoulders at base to triangular spatulate point. Tall, well-formed 2-stage turned socket with molded swelling below head, fitted with straight iron crossbar having well-turned terminals. Pair of long narrow langets at base of socket. Both faces stamped "W. JASPER" to 1 side of medial ridge. Original wooden (ash ?) staff with 2-stage brass butt-cap having molded turns, an incised chevron or "V", & oblate spheroid finial.
