DescriptionDouble-edged blade, etched to resemble watered steel, widening at tip to form oblique triangular tip. Riveted reinforcing plate extending from hilt for 3/4 of length of back of blade & 1/3 cutting, overlaid in floral design gold koft-gari. Hilt has circular "V" shaped crossguard forming knuckle guard & shallow disk pommel with slighly curving spike terminating in circular knob. All sections of hilt edged in floral bands of gold koft-gari. Grip is undecorated circular section iron.ProvenancePurchased by the Museum at the Morosini sale #3986 at the American Art Association (NYC), October 10-15, 1932, lot #20. Paid $17.50 for lot which included HAM# 1841.A & B, 1842. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
