DescriptionSteel. Hemispheric bowl decorated with 6 ogival medallions. Surface pierced to expose copper sheet (possibly tinned inside), held by slightly flattened nails. Interior of medallions & voids decoratively punched; medallions have script embedded in the openwork. Traces of gold koft-gari frame the script, medallions, and top of lower band. Basal band inscribed with alternating cartouches & roundels, filled with silvered Arabic script. Traces of koft-gari in cartouches & roundels. Riveted to left front is conical plume holder; the one formerly to the right has broken off.

Riveted at top of skull is conical finial, extending into necked egg-shaped body & quadrangular, tapered spike. Spike base with traces of gold koft-gari, and faces decorated with lattice work in silver koft-gari.

Well-shaped Iron aventail of butted mail attached to holes in lower rim; 33 cm long. Front straight across brow; 1 long triangular dag to each side of face, 2 at rear, and 3 smaller ones in between to L and R rear.
