DescriptionTall, oval shaped iron helmet. Shallow vertical ridges in sets of four. Embossed iron gourds applied around the lower edge of the hachi. Eyebrows embossed on brow-plate. Elaborate multi-tier tehen resembles scales or lotus flower. Multiple lame shikoro (neck defense) of plain lames with sugake (sparse) lacing. Brass haraidate-dai (maedate holder)
ProvenancePurchased by the Museum from Kano Oshima (NYC) on October 15, 1932, lot#168. Paid $30 for lot #168 (including HAM# 1752). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
