DescriptionTinned iron plate gently curved to the body, of trapezoidal form, expanding to the basal edge, with a sharper angle at the left as viewed. The lower edge has a row of five triangular clusters of three iron rivets. The rounded heads of these are formed as eight-pointed stars, and the long shanks are beaten over within. Above each of the end clusters is an isolated fourth rivet. The clusters retain minor fragments of the original canvas covering.ProvenanceFortress of Xalkis (Eastern Mediterranean) (probably) National Historical Museum of Athens. Purchased by John W.
