DescriptionIron. Rather crudely made, with very wide, low arched frame that expands to its ends. Top is beaten up into semi-closed square suspension loop box. Sides have pair of deep recessed bands set off by strong ribs accented by incised lines & file roping. Riveted, sheet tread plate drawn out in rounded cusp at rear edge. Riveted to front edge & top front of frame is set of 3 outcurved bars of half-round stock.
ProvenancePrince Carl of Prussia; Berlin Zeughaus Purchased by John W. Higgins on September 28, 1929 from estate of Dr. Bashford Dean (Riverdale, New York), his # 7a. Given to the Museum on July 1, 1954. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
