DescriptionLong, leaf-shaped iron blade of flattened lozenge section, with low rib on both faces. At base of blade is integral, long, conical socket with closed seam up one face. As preserved there are no signs of mounting-holes for nails of staff.
ProvenanceFormposs unknown. The dealer seems to have indicated that the lot was French in origin. This may suggest that the group of excavated weapons were found in France. Bought by John W. Higgins for the Armory from V.R. Bachereau (46 Rue de Provence, Paris) as part of a lot, on September 3, 1933. Price paid not known. Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
