DescriptionFor left arm. Deep, narrow gutter-shaped steel plate rounded at elbow. Wrist end has gutter-shaped hinged wrist guard. Main plate also has buckle on either side. Both plates with row of small holes on edges, some with remains of gold-covered thread & tiny domed copper nails, remaining from a wrapover of the lining. This section appears to have been modified with the addition of an extra strip, to judge by the disused row of lining holes below it. Decorated with borders of 3 different rows of dense floral gold 'koft-gari'. 2014.1023.2 is the liner for this piece.
ProvenanceEx collection Angelo Peyron (Florence, Italy). Purchased by the Museum on 6 November 1954, from Savoy Art and Auction Galleries (NYC), part of lot 834 (with 3092.1-3, 5-8). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
