Description(a) Close-helmet; (b) collar; (c) Breastplate: (early 17th century) of long, flat-sided form with defined medial ridge full-length to residual "peascod" dip below waistline. (d) Backplate: (ca. 1600-1620) of straight form, slightly outwardly rounded at shoulderblades, with medial indentation full-length to waist. (e,f) Pauldrons (ca. 1615) symmetrical, of humped, rounded form; (g,h) Vambraces with closed cowters; (I,j) Upper tassets are square form, of 7 lames; (k,l) Cuisses; (m,n) Greaves with sabatons, boot form, rearplate embossed and pierced for spurs; (o,p) Gauntlets, left probably Greenwich, ca. 1585, right modern copy. Fingered type, with riveted, slightly flaring pointed cuffs, having medial ridge.
