DescriptionOf a single plate of heavy steel. Bossed to accommodate the rotation channel on the helmet. 6 holes for breastplate, one at face for upper bevor; cutout for ventilation door. There is a line of repair or alteration down the L side, and signs of rehammering along the R edge.
ProvenanceArmor was purchased by Duveen Bros. for Clarence H. Mackay, November 24, 1928, #A-51, at the American Art Association (NYC) sale of Dr. Bashford Dean's estate, listed as lot 299, plate XL. Purchased by Museum on June 1, 1942 from Gimbel Bros. (NYC). Collection transfer from Higgins Armory, January 2014.
